Driver Spotlight - Michael Leack

This week were excited to shine the spotlight on one of our amazing full-time bus and coach drivers – Michael Leack. Michael joined the team at 1stBusStop back in 2023 and his passion and dedication have made him a crucial asset to the team.

You joined 1stBusStop in November 2023, how are you finding it so far?

“I would say that so far, I’m finding it great working for this company. The people in the office are easy to talk to and get on with. I also get on with other fellow drivers really well.”

Can you tell us about a typical day in your role as a driver?

“My typical day as a driver involves arriving in the morning and knowing my duties for the day. From there I do my morning walk around and then commence on the first job, this is either something like a school run or any private work. If there isn’t any private hire work on a particular day, then I will make sure to clean and tidy my vehicles.”

What do you find most rewarding about this job?

“I would say the most rewarding thing about my job Is being able to go to different places on private hires and being able to see the kids’ faces when we have helped them have a really good day out.”

Which is your favourite vehicle to drive at work?

“If I were to pick my favourite vehicle to drive, I would go for the BV10 WWL, because of the new paint job. If not this one then I’d go for the Bu51 TOP, it’s just really nice to drive.”  

What do you do in your spare time?

“In my spare time I enjoy walking the dog and going on family days out when the weather is nice.”

If you had a talk show, who would you invite on?

“If I had a talk show I would invite on the prime minister”

What are some items on your bucket list?

“Some things I’d like to check off my bucket list are going scuba diving and to drive a rally car.”

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?

“If I had an unlimited supply of one thing then it would have to be chocolate.”
